Gluten free Chex mix made with the best ingredients to create the most addicting, homemade crunchy, oven baked snack ever.

I am confident there are probably 4 trillion homemade Chex mix recipes floating around on the internet.

But I'm also confident they're not all gluten-free and they don't all contain just the best ingredients.

So what are the best ingredients? That is probably different for everyone, but if you are someone who avoids the gross brown healthy looking squares and goes for just the rice Chex, then this recipe is for you!

But here's the thing I learned after making Chex mix with only the ingredients you love the most. You literally have nothing to slow you down.

When you make a mix that has only the amazing things and no gross brown things, there is literally nothing to slow you down. You can just go balls to the wall, all in, no holds barred type eating.

If you love homemade Chex Mix or have those awesome nostalgic memories of eating it years ago it's time to bring it back to life. This is the year to do so, and you better do it up right.

    Ingredients

    • Rice Chex mix or similar rice cereal (I used the cheap off brand)
    • gluten free cheese crackers ( I love these clean gluten free crackers)
    • gluten free pretzels
    • butter
    • paprika

    • garlic salt
    • salt
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • dry roasted peanuts (the kind with only salt, no other ingredients)

Expert tips for Gluten Free Chex Mix

The best tip I have for this is to actually use a giant bag (like a plastic or paper grocery bag) to shake the ingredients all together.

I don't have a mega giant bowl that lets me stir this all together without it getting all over the counter.

To combat that I tossed half the cereal mix in a paper grocery bag, poured half the butter in, gave it a shake, shake, shake. Then add the rest of the butter and repeat shaking.

    How to store

You will probably eat this before it goes bad, but you can keep it in a sealed, air tight container up to 5 days.

    Description

This salty bold gluten free Chex mix is addicting with only the best ingredients! Only your favorites to make this crunchy snack perfect for your gluten free parties or Super Bowl!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 1 box (12 ounces) of gluten free toasted rice cereal like Chex Mix Rice
    • 3 cups of gluten free pretzels
    • 2 cups of dry roasted salted peanuts (see notes)
    • 2 cups of gluten free cheese square crackers
    • 11 tablespoons of unsalted butter
    • 1½ tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce (see notes)
    • 1 ½ teaspoons of garlic salt
    • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
    • ¾ teaspoon of salt
    • ¾ teaspoons of paprika

    Instructions

    1. Pre heat oven to 250°F.
    2. In a medium saucepan melt butter over medium/low heat. Stir in garlic salt, salt, onion powder, paprika and worcestershire. Stir to combine evenly. Set aside.
    3. Place cheese crackers in a large bowl and break into pieces if they are large. Add rice cereal, pretzels, peanuts and gently toss to combine.
    4. Pour half the butter mixture over cereal mix and gently toss to coat. Pour in the remaining butter and gently toss again. See note.
    5. Divide the mix among two 9x12 casserole dishes. Bake for 45 minutes stirring every 15 minutes. Mix will be golden crisp.
    6. Let cool and enjoy! Store in an airtight at room temperature.

    Notes

    • Be sure to get dry roasted peanuts that only have salt and peanuts as ingredients.
    • I don't have a huge bowl to make stirring easy so I like to use a really large grocery paper bag. Pour the cereal mix in and then half the butter. Gently shake to coat, then pour the remaining butter on and shake again. Be smart if the butter is hot.
